Anthony A. Fleger

Anthony Alfred Fleger (born October 21, 1900 in Austria-Hungary , † July 16, 1963 in Alexandria , Virginia ) was an American politician of the Democratic Party . From 1937 to 1939 he was a member of the House of Representatives of the United States for 22  congressional districts of the State of Ohio.

biography

Anthony Alfred Fleger was born in Austria-Hungary in 1900. In 1903 he emigrated to the United States with his parents, who settled in Cleveland . There he attended public schools and studied law at Cleveland State University . In 1926 he finished his studies and was admitted to the bar. He then worked as a lawyer in Cleveland. He moved to Parma , Ohio , where he was a referee from 1930 to 1932 . In 1932, Fleger was elected to the Ohio House of Representatives. He took office in 1933 and resigned that same year because he was elected mayor of Parma in the meantime. He served two years, from 1934 to 1935 in this capacity.

In the 1936 congressional elections , Fleger was elected as a Democratic Party candidate to represent the 22nd District of Ohio. He represented the 22nd district for one legislative period in the House of Representatives, re-elections failed in 1938 and 1940 . After a short time as a lawyer in Cleveland, he was an advisor to the United States Attorney General from 1941 to 1950 . He then worked as a lawyer in the Ministry of Justice for 3 years . He was practicing attorney again, this time in Washington, DC He was living in Oxon Hill , Maryland at the time . In 1963 Fleger died in Alexandria, Virginia. He was buried in Holy Cross Cemetery in Brook Park .
