Isaac Parrish

Isaac Parrish (born March 1804 near St. Clairsville , Ohio , †  August 9, 1860 in Parrish City , Iowa ) was an American politician . Between 1839 and 1841 and again from 1845 to 1847 he represented the state of Ohio in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Isaac Parrish first lived in Cambridge . After studying law and being admitted to the bar, he began to work in this profession. In 1833 he became a prosecutor in Guernsey County . At the same time he embarked on a political career as a member of the Democratic Party . In 1837 he was a member of the Ohio House of Representatives . In the congressional election of 1838 Parrish was elected to the Eleventh constituency of Ohio in the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC , where he succeeded James Alexander on March 4, 1839 . Since he was not confirmed in 1840, he was initially only able to complete one legislative period in Congress until March 3, 1841 .

In the elections of 1844 Parrish was re-elected to Congress in the 13th district of his state, where he replaced Perley B. Johnson on March 4, 1845 . After he had renounced another candidacy in 1846, he could only spend one legislative period in the US House of Representatives until March 3, 1847. This was shaped by the events of the Mexican-American War . After serving in the US House of Representatives, Parrish returned to practice as a lawyer. He also worked in the real estate industry. He also worked in the freight business with steamers on the Mississippi . He also founded the Harrison County Flag newspaper , which appeared in Calhoun, Iowa. He died in Parrish City on August 9, 1860.
