- March 15 : On the orders of Napoleon Bonaparte , the French Duke Louis Antoine Henri de Bourbon-Condé, duc d'Enghien from Ettenheim in Baden is kidnapped in a commando to France. To make an example of the Bourbons , the Duke was executed six days later after a show trial for alleged high treason .

- The Third Russo-Persian War begins, triggered by the attack by Russian commanders Ivan Gudowitsch and Pawel Zizianow on Echmiadzin , the holiest city in Armenia . At that time , the city is part of the Yerevan Khanate , which is under Persian suzerainty. The war lasted until 1813 .
