Paul Arnold (politician)

Paul Arnold (born February 22, 1804 in Offenbach am Main , † March 6, 1887 in Darmstadt ) was a Hessian court architect and a member of the 2nd Chamber of the Estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse .

Paul Arnold was the son of the building director Ekhard Arnold (1764-1844) and his wife Susanna Maria née Fleischmann (wedding on December 25, 1801). He was of the Protestant faith. On May 30, 1835, he married his wife Mathilde nee Meister (1810–1871), the daughter of the Solmischen office director Carl Heinrich Meister (1770–1835) and his wife Anna Sybille nee Fuchs (1775–1829) in Offenbach .

Arnold studied political science at the University of Giessen and passed his camera exam in 1825. In 1826 he became an accessist at the Darmstadt construction department and in 1832 a district master builder in Offenbach. In 1837 he became court and military architect in Darmstadt. In 1852 he became court building director and councilor at the senior building management. In 1854 he was appointed senior building director and in 1864 privy councilor before he retired on December 18, 1876.

Paul Arnold was a member of the state estates of the Grand Duchy of Hesse from 1844 to 1847 . He was elected in the constituency Starkenburg 1 / Heusenstamm .

His grandson Ernst Theodor Arnold (1888–1978) was director of the Wilhelm Euler paper mill from 1929 to 1933 and married to Elisabeth “Elli” Koch (1890–1914), daughter of the civil engineer and university professor Alexander Koch .
