- 1370 : The Grand Master of the Teutonic Knight Order , Winrich von Kniprode , defeated the Lithuanians in the Battle of Rudau together with Western European knights who were on a journey to Prussia .
- 1500 : The devastating defeat of the attacking army in the battle of Hemmingstedt against a numerically inferior peasant army under Wulf Isebrand ends the Danish conquest of the peasant republic of Dithmarschen .
