Georg L. Sarauw

Georg L. Sarauw (born November 12, 1862 near Vordingborg , on the island of Zealand in Denmark , † February 17, 1928 in Gothenburg , Sweden ) was a Danish prehistorian .

Georg L. Sarauw worked as an archaeologist at the National Museum in Copenhagen from 1894 . In 1912 he became head of the prehistoric department of the Gothenburg City Museum. In 1912 he coined the term Maglemose culture for the first Mesolithic culture of the northern European lowlands. In 1919 he became a corresponding member of the Berlin Society for Anthropology, Ethnology and Prehistory .
