Jason Morgan Ritter (born  February 17, 1980 in Los Angeles , California ) is an American actor .

Life

Ritter's father was the actor John Ritter ; his grandparents are country singer and actor Tex Ritter and actress Dorothy Fay . His brother Tyler Ritter is also an actor. Jason Ritter starred in films such as Dr. Mumford (1999) and Freddy vs. Jason (2003). He was nominated for a Teen Choice Award in 2004 for his role in the television series The Heavenly Joan (2003) . The role in the horror film Freddy vs. Jason earned him a nomination for an Academy of Science Fiction, Fantasy & Horror Films Award that same year . Together with Marianna Palka , Ritter founded the production company Morning Knight Inc.

Ritter is in a relationship with actress Melanie Lynskey , with whom he has had a daughter since December 2018.
