Marianna Bronislawa Barbara Palka (born September 7, 1981 in Glasgow , Scotland ) is an American actress , screenwriter , film producer and director of Polish descent.

Life

Marianna Palka was born to Barbara and Tadeusz Palka, who ran a business in Scotland in the 1980s. She moved to New York City at the age of 17 , where she studied acting with the Atlantic Theater Company . Together with Jason Ritter , she founded the production company Morning Knight Inc .

Palka helped produce the drama The Big Kahuna (1999) starring Kevin Spacey and Danny DeVito, and the comedy film Sam the Man (2000) starring Annabella Sciorra . In the years 1999 to 2001 she also worked as a director of plays. In the film Earth Day (2001), her voice was heard alongside that of Mark Hamill and Jason Ritter. In the film drama Good Dick (2008) Palka worked as a director, screenwriter, producer and actress in the lead role. The film premiered on January 18, 2008 at the Sundance Film Festival as a competition entry.

Palka lives in Los Angeles .
