Tyler David Thomas Ritter (born January 31, 1985 in Los Angeles , California ) is an American actor .

life and career

Tyler Ritter was born in Los Angeles as the son of actor John Ritter . His brother is the actor Jason Ritter . During his time in high school he appeared in school performances, abandoning his father's wish to follow the same path, but initially after his father's untimely death. He graduated from the University of Pennsylvania in 2007 and then worked as a teacher in Argentina for three years. At the age of 25, he returned to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career.

He took his first role in front of the camera in 2008 in the film Good Dick , in which his brother also starred. In the following years he was mainly seen in short films. From 2013 he appeared in guest roles in the series Modern Family , Grey's Anatomy , Hot in Cleveland , Marvel's Agents of SHIELD , Navy CIS: LA , Navy CIS , Young & Hungry and Chicago PD . From 2014 to 2015 he played the lead role of Ronny McCarthy in the series The McCarthys . In 2016, Ritter appeared as Det. Billy Malone in the series Arrow . In 2019 he took on a supporting role as Alan in the series Merry Happy Whatever .

Personal

Ritter has been married to the Argentinian director Lelia Parma since 2010, who moved to the States with him after he returned from Argentina. In 2017 they became parents of a son.
