Don Quinn ( Dennis Quaid ) works as a police officer in Pennsylvania. His four children, who are now grown up, visit him at Christmas. His youngest daughter Emmy ( Bridgit Mendler ) arrives with her boyfriend from Los Angeles who is planning to get engaged. Kayla ( Ashley Tisdale ) arrives with her husband, who shortly after announces that he wants to divorce her.
