Bridgit Claire Mendler (* 18th December 1992 in Washington, DC ) is an American actress and singer who for her role as Teddy Duncan in the Disney Channel - TV series Good Luck Charlie was known.

Life

Mendler was born in Washington, DC on December 18, 1992 and moved to San Francisco with her younger brother Nick Mendler and parents Leah and Harry Mendler at the age of eight . As Mendler announced in September 2012, she had been dating Shane Harper since 2010 , but announced the separation in November 2015.

Career

Mendler had one of her first roles in 2006 in an episode of the soap opera General Hospital . This was followed, among other things, in 2008, appearances in the films Alice is upside down with Alyson Stoner and The Glamor Clique - Cinderella's Revenge , the film adaptation of the book series The Glamor Clique .

In 2009 she had a guest role in the series JONAS , in which she played Nick Jonas's friend . In the same year, she had a leading role in the film (K), a bit pregnant, alongside Lindsay Lohan . She also played in Alvin and the Chipmunks 2 the role of Becca Kingston .

She first gained greater fame in 2009 when she played the supporting role of the vampire Juliet Van Heusen in the Disney Channel sitcom The Wizard of Waverly Place . For this she was nominated at the Young Artist Awards 2012 in the category Best Recurring Actress in a TV Series - Between 17 and 21 Years . Mendler's big breakthrough in the USA came with the Disney Channel sitcom My Sister Charlie , in which she played the leading role of Teddy Duncan alongside Jason Dolley from April 2010 to February 2014 . She also took on this role in the 2011 television film My Sister Charlie UNDERWAY - The film in which the Duncan family celebrates Christmas, as well as in a crossover with the series Jessie .

In 2010 she got the lead role of Olivia White in the Disney Channel original movie Lemonade Mouth , which premiered in 2011.

In 2012 she played in the tenth episode of the eighth season House MD, a girl who ran away from home and wanted to get medicine with the help of a homeless person. Due to an ear bleeding, Dr. House instructed and then treated.

From March 2015 to January 2016, Mendler played the lead female role as Candace on the NBC sitcom Undateable .

In October 2016 it was announced that Mendler would be playing a supporting role in the television series Nashville . She takes on the role of Ashley Wilkenson in the fifth season, which will air on CMT from January 2017 .

Music career

She first caught on as a singer in 2010 when she sang the theme song Hang In There Baby for her series My Sister Charlie . She also recorded the songs When She Loved Me and How to Believe for the film Tinkerbell 3 - A Summer Full of Adventure . For the film Beverly Hills Chihuahua 2 she wrote and sang the song This Is My Paradise .

For Lemonade Mouth - The Story of a Band , she recorded a few songs with her co-stars and released them on the soundtrack of the same name.

Mendler's debut album was released in September 2012 under the name Hello My Name Is . The first single from it, Ready or Not , was released on August 3, 2012. The second single was Hurricane .

In July 2015, it was announced that Mendler had left Hollywood Records . On August 26, 2016, Mendler's new single, Atlantis, was released . The EP Nemesis will be published in November 2016 [obsolete] .
