Young & Hungry is an American sitcom developed by David Holden for cable broadcaster ABC Family ( Freeform since 2016 ). The TV series tells the story of gourmet blogger Gabi Diamond, played by Emily Osment , who starts out as a private chef for a young entrepreneur. It premiered in the United States on June 25, 2014 on ABC Family.

The gourmet blogger Gabi Diamond starts a job as a private chef with the young entrepreneur Josh Kaminski. There she not only has to cope with her clumsiness, but also has to endure the whims of Josh's idiosyncratic publicist and assistant Elliott. She receives support from her best friend Sofia Rodriguez and the housekeeper Yolanda. To make matters worse, Gabi has to fall in love with Josh, who is actually in a relationship with Caroline.

- Gabi is a resolute, young gourmet blogger who loves to cook and who does it excellently. Gabi dropped out of school and lives in a shared apartment with her best friend Sofia. She also has the gift of telling everyone what they'd like to eat. Gabi is looking for a job at the beginning of the series. She tries to become Josh Kaminski's private cook, but is turned down by his assistant Elliot. When she meets Josh, she falls in love with him and she gets the job.

- Josh is a naive, wealthy, young entrepreneur and millionaire. He hires Gabi as his private cook, who grows dear to him over time and slowly falls in love with her. He is in a relationship with Caroline at the beginning. Josh realizes that she is snooty and cocky, but tries to ignore it.
- Elliot Park
- Elliot is Josh's personal assistant. He conducts the interview with Gabi and is not thrilled that she gets the job, as he would much rather take a famous, attractive cook. He tries everything to make his boss Josh happy. He and Gabi share a love-hate relationship. He's gay.
- Sofia Rodriguez
- Sofia is Gabi's best friend and an ambitious bank clerk. She is strong-willed and wants to advance her career. She often gives Gabi amusing advice.
- Yolanda
- Yolanda is Josh's naughty housekeeper. She is very loud and says what she thinks. She and Gabi quickly become friends. She always has a snappy saying on her lips.
- Caroline Huntington
- Caroline is Josh's friend and later his fiancée. She only sees the unprofessional and unreliable in Gabi.

In August 2013, the station ordered the comedy pilot Young & Hungry . David Holden and Ashley Tisdale with her production company Blondie Girl Productions are behind the project, which is based on the life of food blogger Gabi Moskowitz . On September 25, 2013, Emily Osment was cast to the lead role of Gabi Diamond . Furthermore, Rex Lee and Jonathan Sadowski followed in October of the same year in further leading roles.
The first season of the series, consisting of ten episodes, was ordered by ABC Family in January 2014.

“ With the pilot episode, the sitcom Young & Hungry mainly offers light entertainment, which is quite good if you keep one eye on the screen while doing something else. The authors have worked on the basic recipe at least long enough to include all the ingredients: the vicious housekeeper with a heart, the arrogant assistant as a temporary opponent of the protagonist, the naive boss with an unlikable partner, the talented but desperate cook with a quick-witted friend. But in the pilot episode the jokes stay flat, the plot predictable and the characters have a hard time finding their way into the audience's hearts ”
