Saint Bernard is a municipality in the Southern Leyte province of the Philippines .
history
On February 17, 2006, a huge landslide buried large parts of the community. Especially the barangays Guinsaugon and Sugangon were severely affected. The Philippine government officially estimated that 1,126 people lost their lives in the disaster. The cause was torrential rain and deforestation as well as a slight earthquake.
