Joseph Hunt
Joseph "Joe" Raphael Hunt (born February 17, 1919 in San Francisco , California , † February 2, 1945 in Florida ) was an American tennis player .
Career
He won the American Championships (now US Open ) in Forest Hills in 1943 . His use in the American Navy during World War II prevented more wins in tennis . He was killed in early 1945 when his plane crashed over Florida.
In 1966 he was inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame .
