Georg von Liebig , (since 1845 Georg Freiherr von Liebig ) (born February 17, 1827 in Gießen , † December 31, 1903 in Munich ) was a German physician and climatologist .

Life

Georg was the eldest son of the chemist Justus von Liebig , who founded the baronial house of the Liebig family . He studied in Giessen and Berlin and in 1853 went to Bombay for the English East India Company (EIC) . In 1856 he became a professor in Calcutta , in 1859 he was again active on European soil as a district and saltworks doctor in Reichenhall . In 1864 he and Ernst Mack created a system with the first usable pneumatic chamber in Dianabad. From 1873 Liebig only worked in Reichenhall in summer and moved to Munich in winter. In 1877 he qualified as a professor at the local university and was shortly thereafter there a lecturer in climatology and balneology .
