Wolfgang Hofer (born February 17, 1950 in Linz ; born Wolfgang Johannes Hofer ), known as a pop singer only Wolfgang , is an Austrian pop singer , composer and songwriter .
Life
Hofer was born the son of an accountant in Linz. He wrote texts and composed as a high school student and formed a folk music quartet. As a student of communications engineering in Vienna, he was discovered by ORF employee Evamaria Kaiser , and his first record appeared under the title A Photo of Christina . He broke off his studies to concentrate on musical creativity.
He became generally known in 1971 with the successful title Abraham ( Das Lied vom Trödler ), which he wrote and composed himself . With this hit he was number one in the Austrian charts for four weeks. In the ZDF hit parade , he took first place twice. He also appeared with it in the comedy film The Great Aunts To Beat .
However, he could not continue this success and ended his career as a singer in the late 1970s. Hofer also worked as a busy songwriter, whose songs were performed by Margot Werner ( So ein Mann , 1976) and Wencke Myhre ( Laß mein Knie, Joe , 1978), among others . The collaboration with Udo Jürgens , who set over 100 texts by Wolfgang Hofer to music, including Mein Klavier (1972), At 66 Years (1977), My Brother is a Painter (1977), Buenos dias, Argentina (1978), Everything, was particularly successful under control on the sinking ship (1980), love without suffering in a duet with Jenny Juergens (1984), and ship of fools (1986). Like Udo Jürgens, he was looked after as a singer by Hans R. Beierlein as a manager and wrote the first text for a song by Jürgens in Kitzbühel in 1972 .
Hofer also works for television, where he participates in the design of shows and other programs, for music theater and for advertising. From Vienna he first went to Hesse. He now lives in Langenfeld near Düsseldorf.
