Career

In his youth, Book was active for SpVg Beckum . In 1999, the midfielder moved to LR Ahlen and initially gained match practice in the second team. In 2004 Book received a professional contract with the Ahlenern. After he was rarely used in the 2004/05 season, he was the team's top performer in the 2005/06 season and scored three goals this season. He also aroused the interest of other clubs and on June 11, 2006 accepted an offer from MSV Duisburg for the 2006/07 season. In the first year he was used 14 times and rose to the Bundesliga with the club . There he was unable to assert himself due to injury and occasionally played for the 2nd team during the 2007/08 season. For the 2008/09 season Book was loaned to his former club, the second division Rot Weiss Ahlen , for a year . In 2009 he finally joined the Ahlenern and rose to the club in 2010 in the 3rd division. After the bankruptcy of the association, he left RW Ahlen.

On August 19, 2011, Book signed a contract with SV Wehen Wiesbaden , for which he completed 128 games in six years, scoring nine goals and where he was temporarily team captain. From the winter break of 2016/17 he was no longer taken into account and in summer 2017 his contract, which was still running for one year, was terminated.

After the end of his playing career, Book worked as a junior scout at SV Elversberg since September 2017 . On October 29, 2018, he was promoted to sports director at the Saarland club after he separated from the previous incumbent Roland Seitz .

Book also played for the DFB's junior teams (U-17 to U-21).
