The young officer was deployed in Dünaburg . Because he was ailing, he said goodbye on November 6, 1827. He came into contact with the hesychastic renewal that came from Païssi Welitschkowski. Dimitrij was temporarily in Ploshchansk, Brjansk , Optina Pustyn , Pokrovskoje, Kirillow Novojeserskij, Vologda , Semigorod, Gluschizki and Lopotow. Stavropol and Bolshie solos

Ignati was ordained Bishop of Stavropol on October 27, 1857 . Some bishops did not recognize him because he was trained as an engineer and thus had a different approach to theology. Many of his sermons and an introduction to monastic life were written here. Ignati retired on August 6, 1861 for health reasons. He retired to the Nikolo Babajewski Monastery ( Kostroma Governorate ). Here he wrote a treatise on death. He died on April 30, 1867. In 1988 he was canonized . His feast day is April 30th / May 13th. The monastic awakening in Russia is based on him .
