Iossif of Volokolamsk organizes the monastic life. Nil Sorski, Wassili von Poiana Marului and Païssi (Welitschkowski) bring a revival from the holy mountain Athos on the basis of monastic patriotic writings. Bishops such as Dimitri von Rostow, Tikhon von Sadonsk , Ignati Bryantschaninow and Theophan Goworow contribute to the renewal through their writings. Seraphim von Sarov has the greatest charisma .
