Arvid Ahnfelt (born August 16, 1845 in Lund , † February 17, 1890 in Copenhagen ) was a Swedish literary historian .

Life

Ahnfelt studied in Lund, later in Uppsala, where he worked at the Kungliga Biblioteket in Stockholm. After that he worked exclusively as a journalist and writer, for example as an employee of the Aftonbladet . In 1881 he became editor of the political magazine: Ur Dagens Krönika ("From the Chronicle of the Day"). He became literarily known through his book Verldslitteraturens historia (Stockholm, 1874–76), a history of world literature, which is based on the well-known works of Johannes Scherr a . a. leans on, but has dealt with the local literature quite independently.

Ahnfelt published several literary historical monographs on, among others, Almquist (Stockholm 1876), Leonhard Fredrik Rääf (Stockholm 1879), Crusenstolpe (Stockholm 1880), Palmer (Stockholm 1880), and also a biography of Bishop Thomander (Stockholm 1876), a cultural and historical one Work on the basis of archival research: Ur svenska hofvets och aristokratiens lif (Stockholm 1880–83, volumes 1–6), and the artist lexicon ( Europes konstnärer , Stockholm 1883 ff.).

Ahnfelt was married to Hilda Henriette (nee Runnerström) since 1871.
