Bärbel Inhelder
Bärbel Inhelder (born April 15, 1913 in St. Gallen ; † February 17, 1997 ) was a Swiss developmental psychologist .
Bärbel Inhelder studied at the University of Geneva . She was a student, colleague and then successor to Jean Piaget . After obtaining a doctorate in philosophy in 1943, she worked for many years as a professor (1948) with Piaget.
In 1971 she took over from Piaget at the University of Geneva until 1983. During her long scientific life she carried out numerous experiments with children . She experiences great international recognition as a psychologist . In 1976 Inhelder was elected a member of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences .
She has published many articles and books on developmental psychology.
