Wartislaw († 1184)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Wartislaw (* after 1160; † February 17, 1184 ) was a prince from the Greifenhaus ruling house in Pomerania .

He was the second son of the Pomeranian Duke Bogislaw I and his first wife. From 1182, a document has been handed down in which Duke Bogislaw I, with the consent of his sons Ratibor and Wartislaw ("consentientibus filiis nostris Ratiburone et Wartizlao") confirms donations for the foundation of the Broda monastery . From this it can be concluded that Wartislaw, like his older brother Ratibor, was then an adult.

Wartislaw died in 1184, about a year after his older brother Ratibor and three years before his father Bogislaw I. Nothing is known about a marriage between Wartislaw. He was buried in the Grobe monastery , as mentioned in a document.
