Ásgeir Örn Hallgrímsson (born February 17, 1984 in Reykjavík ) is a former Icelandic handball player . His body length is 1.94 m.

Ásgeir, who last played for the Icelandic first division club Haukar Hafnarfjörður and ran for the Icelandic national team (shirt number 6), was mostly used in the right back space , but he could also appear as the right winger.

Ásgeir Örn Hallgrímsson made his debut for Haukar Hafnarfjörður in the Icelandic first division. There he won the Icelandic championship in 2000, 2003 and 2004. In 2005 he moved abroad for the first time, to TBV Lemgo in the German handball league . There he won the EHF Cup in 2006 , but was never really able to assert himself and especially disappointed as a replacement for the injured Florian Kehrmann . In 2007 he moved on to GOG Svendborg TGI in Denmark. After GOG went bankrupt during the 2009/10 season, he joined the Danish second division team Faaborg HK in 2010. From July 2010 Ásgeir Örn Hallgrímsson played for the German first division club TSV Hannover-Burgdorf . After his contract with Hanover expired in 2012, he joined the French club Paris HB. With Paris he won the championship in 2013. For the 2014/15 season, the left-hander moved to league rivals USAM Nîmes . In summer 2018 he returned to Haukar Hafnarfjörður. He ended his career after the 2019/20 season.

Ásgeir Örn Hallgrímsson played 247 international matches for the Icelandic national team. With his country, he also took part in the 2007 World Cup in Germany and the 2008 European Championship in Norway, but failed in the first in the quarter-finals and in the second in the main round. In summer 2012 he took part in the Olympic Games in London . At the 2014 European Championship , he finished fifth.
