Norberto do Amaral
Norberto do Amaral (born February 17, 1956 in Ainaro , Portuguese Timor ) is Roman Catholic Bishop of Maliana in East Timor .
Life
Norberto do Amaral went to the Catholic elementary school in his birthplace Ainaro. He then entered the Nossa Senhora da Fatima seminary in the Diocese of Dili . In the inter-diocesan Seminary St. Peter in Ritapiret on Flores ( Indonesia ) Amaral studied philosophy (1981-1983) and Catholic Theology (1985 until 1988). In between he worked in 1984 in Ossu in pastoral care. On October 18, 1988, he received the sacrament of ordination in Dili . Afterwards Amaral became parish vicar of the parish of Ainaro. In 1989 he became pastor in the parish of Maubisse and was 2000-2004 rain the seminary Peter and Paul in Dili.
After Amaral had completed a degree in dogmatic theology at the Pontifical Urban University in Rome from 2005 to 2007 , he became professor and prefect of the full seminary in Dili. In 2008 Amaral became Chancellor of the Diocese of Dili and director of its magazine “A Sera”.
Pope Benedict XVI appointed him on January 30, 2010 as the first bishop of the newly founded diocese of Maliana . The episcopal ordination of Amaral took place on April 26, 2010 by Archbishop Leopoldo Girelli , Apostolic Nuncio in East Timor ; Co-consecrators were the Bishop of Díli , Alberto Ricardo da Silva , and the Bishop of Baucau , Basílio do Nascimento .
