Albrecht Schackow

Albrecht Schackow (born October 19, 1907 in Bremen ; † March 26, 1994 in Bremen) was a German lawyer and representative in ship banking.

biography

Schackow was the son of an engineer. He was married to Eva Albers; both had two daughters.

education and profession

He graduated from the August Hartung elementary school from 1914 to 1917 , the old grammar school in Bremen from 1917 to 1926 and studied law at the University of Freiburg im Breisgau , the University of Munich and the University of Göttingen from 1926 to 1929 . Since 1926 he was a member (later honorary member) of the Corps Hasso-Borussia Freiburg .

In 1929, the state examination on carried Celle Court and in 1930 his doctorate Dr. jur. in Göttingen . From 1931 to 1933 he finally worked as a trainee lawyer in Bremen.

In 1934 he became syndicus and head of the legal department of Norddeutscher Lloyd (NDL) in Bremen and at times also syndicus of the “North Sea” German deep-sea fishery in Bremerhaven . During the Second World War he was managing director of the Association of German Shipowners in Hamburg and from 1942 to 1948 worked for the Hamburg ship brokerage company Leith & Co.

After the war, he opened a practice as a lawyer and notary in Bremen in 1948 . Founded in 1950, Dr. Schackow & Partner , together with Dr. Fritz Hobelmann, first resided at Liebfrauenkirchhof and from 1953 at Domshof No. 17. She specialized in maritime law as well as ship financing and ship registration. In 1949 he played a leading role in founding the Deutsche Schiffahrtsbank and became chairman of the board and later chairman of the supervisory board of the bank, which became part of Deutsche Schiffsbank in 1989 .

Since 1935 Schackow was a member of the Diakonie , then the old Diakonie of the cathedral parish in Bremen and from 1956 to 1973 builder of the Bremen Cathedral and around 1972 author of the cathedral constitution.

He was a member of the board of directors of Deutsche Schiffsbank AG since 1949 and chairman of the board of directors from 1951 to 1973, member of the board of directors from 1949 to 1966 and a member of the supervisory board of Deutsche Schiffspfandbriefbank AG in Berlin from 1966 to 1976 , chairman of the Association of German Ship Banks and member of the main committee of the Federal Association from 1952 to 1974 German banks as well as Deputy Chairman of the Supervisory Board of Borgward Werke

Since 1955 he was a member and since 1964 chairman of the supervisory board of the steam shipping company "Neptun" (today Sloman Neptun Schiffahrts AG ).

Since 1956 he was a member and since 1972 head of Haus Seefahrt .

Furthermore he was u. a. Chairman of the supervisory board of Minerva Versicherung, member of the supervisory board of Hapag-Lloyd AG, deputy chairman of the supervisory board of Deutsche Schiffskreditbank AG Duisburg.
