Mindy McCready

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Malinda Gayle "Mindy" McCready (* the 30th November 1975 in Fort Myers , Florida ; † 17th February 2013 in Heber Springs , Cleburne County , Arkansas ) was an American Country - Pop - singer in the mid-1990s for a short Time made career.

Life

Against her parents' wishes, Mindy McCready moved from her native Florida to Nashville two years after graduating from school to pursue a career as a country singer in Music City. She initially took on various office jobs and tried, equipped with tape recordings of her karaoke performances, to attract the interest of record companies. Producers Norro Wilson and David Malloy eventually became aware of their talent. After the production of a professional demo, a record deal was signed in 1996 with the RCA-owned BNA label.

McCready released their debut album Ten Thousand Angels in 1996 , which was a surprising success. It sold over two million copies and achieved platinum status. This success was due in large part to their closeness to pop music. Four decoupled singles became hits, including Guys Do It All The Time , which reached number one on the country charts. Tours with Alan Jackson and George Strait followed .

Her second album, If I Don't Stay The Night , was released at the end of 1997. It was gilded, but no more songs could place in the upper range of the single charts. In 1999, her record deal was terminated after steadily deteriorating sales figures. A major reason was their notorious unreliability and unpredictability. There were also arguments with the label management, some of which were carried out in public.

Mindy's personal situation deteriorated dramatically. She was caught using a fake prescription to buy a strong pain reliever. There have been charges of drug possession and drinking under the influence. In May 2005, she was beaten so badly by her ex-boyfriend Billy McKnight that he had to answer for an attempted murder. This was followed by parole violations and suicide attempts. In the meantime, she reconciled with McKnight after she was expecting a child, and a single was even produced together. Their son was born on March 25, 2006.

After a violent argument with her mother and her subsequent arrest in Fort Myers in July 2007, she was sentenced to one year in prison in September 2007 in Nashville for further violations of the two-year probation requirements, but was released early on December 31, 2007 . McCready participated in the third season of the reality television show Celebrity Rehab with Dr. Drew attended and was escorted through her drug withdrawal. In 2010 McCready tried a comeback with the album I'm Still Here .

She committed suicide on February 17, 2013 . A few weeks earlier, her partner and father of her second son, producer David Wilson, had died, presumably also by suicide. Country stars such as Lorrie Morgan , Bryan White and Bekka Bramlett sang and spoke at McCready's funeral .

In May 2015, the musical McCready premiered with Jennifer Blake in the lead role. In the fall of 2016, the musical hit Off-Broadway and another year later the accompanying EP with three titles was released.
