Alan Jackson
Alan Eugene Jackson (* 17th October 1958 in Newnan , Georgia ) with 26 country number 1 hits and 43.5 million albums sold one of the most successful American country - singer and - songwriter . To date, he has been nominated for a Grammy 20 times and has received two awards.
Beginnings
Alan Jackson was particularly passionate about cars and country music from childhood . In 1979 he married, kept changing jobs and formed the band Dixie Steel , with whom he appeared in the local club scene. His wife Denise was a flight attendant and one day met Glen Campbell at the Atlanta airport . She told him about her husband's musical ambitions and received the address and telephone number of Campbell's music publisher.
Alan Jackson played some self-written songs and got a job as a songwriter. In 1985 he and his wife moved to Nashville , where he wrote songs during the day and kept afloat doing odd jobs. In the evenings he performed in smaller clubs. Together with producer Keith Stegall, he recorded a few demo tapes.
Career and personal life
The New York record company Arista Records planned to expand its activities to Nashville at the time. Alan Jackson was the first to receive a contract in 1989. After a moderately successful single, the album Here in the Real World was released in 1990 , which sold more than a million times. Each of Jackson's subsequent albums went platinum, or even multiple platinum, and nearly each of his singles hit the top of the country charts.
Jackson's 15th solo album Good Time , which was released in March 2008, reached number one on the Billboard 200 sales charts as the fourth album and also reached number 66 on the charts in Switzerland.
On April 16, 2010, Jackson was honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in the Music category.
In 2017 Jackson was inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame . The laudation was given by Loretta Lynn , who appeared again in public for the first time after a stroke.
Jackson lives in Tennessee with his wife and three daughters .
