Clint Black

Clinton Patrick "Clint" Black (born February 4, 1962 in Long Branch , New Jersey , USA ) is an American country singer. Between 1989 and 1999 he reached the top of the Billboard Country Songs with 13 tracks .

Beginnings

Clint grew up in Texas as the youngest of four brothers. At 15 he learned to play the guitar and soon after played bass guitar in his brother Kevin's band. In 1987 he met the guitarist and songwriter Hayden Nicholas . They began to write songs together and a year later they were able to attract Bill Ham , the manager of ZZ Top . Bill Ham brokered a contract with RCA for Clint Black that same year .

Career

Black's first single, A Better Man , hit number 1 on the country charts in 1989. His CD Killin 'Time , which was released shortly thereafter, sold more than three million copies and achieved triple platinum status . In addition, three other number 1 singles were released. Black received numerous awards for Best Album , Best Single , Best Male Vocalist , Artist of the Year , Songwriter of the Year , etc.

The success was repeated a year later with the CD Put Yourself in My Shoes . Once again, more than three million records were sold (triple platinum), and again there were several single releases that reached top positions. The songwriting duo Clint Black / Hayden Nicholas hit the top after just two years. The third CD, The Hard Way , was released in 1992 and reached number 2 on the country charts, as was the follow-up album No Time to Kill from 1993

In the following years, Black studio albums appeared again and again, all of which were able to place in the top 10 of the country charts, most recently in 1999 the album D'lectrified . After a five-year break, the album Spend My Time was released in 2004 by Black's newly founded label “Equity Music Group” , which again reached number 3 on the country charts. In 2005 the album Drinkin 'Songs & Other Logic was released , which could not build on the previous successes.

Private life

Black married the singer and actress Lisa Hartman in 1991 and their daughter was born in 2001. Hartman and Black stood together in 1998 for the television film Cadillac Jack: A cowboy never gives up in front of the camera and also appeared as a duet partner.
