Travis kick
James Travis Tritt (born February 9, 1963 in Marietta , Georgia ) is an American country singer , songwriter and actor . He has had more than 30 titles on the country charts, including five number one hits.
Beginnings
Tritt was enthusiastic about country music from an early age. He taught himself to play the guitar and wrote his first song when he was 14. Since his parents were against a career as a musician, he initially took on everyday jobs after graduating from school. At an air conditioning manufacturer, he made it to the foreman. He took refuge in an early marriage that was short-lived.
In 1982 Tritt gave up his jobs and concentrated on appearing in clubs and dance halls. A few years later he appeared in the home studio of Warner Manager Danny Davenport, a demo tape with self-written songs einzuspielen. Davenport was impressed with the quality of the songs. After he was convinced of Tritt's abilities in live performances, he decided to promote the young musician. A demo album was created within two years, which eventually led to a contract with the Warner label in 1988.
Career
Travis Tritt was looked after by Ken Kragen, the manager of Kenny Rogers . His first single Country Club was released in 1989 and made it into the top ten of the country charts. The album of the same name was also successful and reached platinum status within a year. The released single Help Me Hold On became Tritt's first number one hit.
His mix of honky tonk and southern rock continued to be successful over the next few years. His second album, It's All About To Change , went platinum after a few months. The single Anymore reached number one on the country charts. In 1991 he received the CMA Horizon Award , which honors the most promising talent. A year later, he and Marty Stuart won a Grammy and the CMA Award Vocal Event of the Year for their duet The Whiskey Ain't Workin ' . More songs were recorded with his friend Marty Stuart and they went on tour together. In 1992 Tritt became a member of the Grand Ole Opry .
The streak of success lasted until the end of the decade. Virtually every album has sold more than a million copies and gone platinum. Numerous singles were able to place in the top ten. In 1998, Tritt made a guest appearance in the film Blues Brothers 2000 . In 2000 Tritt switched to the Sony label and was able to place his fifth number one hit with the single Best of Intentions .
Personal life and honors
Tritt married for the third time in 1997, the couple lives in Hiram , Georgia with three children. The city of Hiram named a highway after Travis Tritt.
