Giuseppe Farinelli
Giuseppe Farinelli (actually Giuseppe Francesco Finco , born May 7, 1769 in Este , † December 12, 1836 in Trieste ) was an Italian composer who mainly wrote operatic works .
biography
Finco was born in Este . He received his first musical training in Este with a certain Lionelli, then in Venice with Antonio Martinelli . In 1785 he continued his studies in Naples at the Conservatorio della Pietà dei Turchini with Lorenzo Fargo ( harmony ), Nicola Sala ( counterpoint ), Gicaomo Tritto ( composition ) and Barbiello ( singing ). After his training he took on the name of the famous singer Carlo Broschi ( Farinelli ) out of gratitude for support and help in his musical training . In 1792 the performance of his first opera, Il dottorato di Pulcinella, was enthusiastically received at the Conservatory. 1795 followed with Il uomo indolente, his first commissioned work for a public opera house ( Teatro Nuovo , Naples). From 1800 to 1810 Finco composed most of his nearly 60 operas. Rossini's works put an end to his stage success around 1817. In 1810 Finco moved to Turin , from there to Trieste in 1817 , where he received the position of "Maestro al Harpsichord" at the Teatro Nuovo . In 1819 he became conductor and organist at Susa's cathedral ; he retained this position until his death.
