Ezra Eugene "Gene" Gossage (* 17th February 1935 in Columbia , Tennessee ; † 1. May 2011 in Old Saybrook , Connecticut ) was an American American football and Canadian football poker players. He played as Defensive End , Defensive Tackle and Guard with the Philadelphia Eagles in the National Football League (NFL) and with the Hamilton Tiger-Cats in the Canadian Football League (CFL).

Player career

College career

Gene Gossage first studied at the University of Cincinnati before moving to Northwestern University . Gossage was used by Head Coach Ara Parseghian from 1957 to 1959 as a defensive tackle for the Northwestern Wildcats . During his student days, Gossage was twice elected to the selection team of the Big Ten Conference . He has received three awards from college for his athletic achievements.

Professional career

Gene Gossage was established in 1958 by the Philadelphia Eagles in the 28th round of 328 office drafted . Before joining the Philadelphia team , he first finished his studies. After he had turned down a contract offer from the Dallas Texans from the newly formed American Football League , he joined the Eagles in 1960. The team of coach Buck Shaw won ten of twelve games this year in the regular season and thus moved into the NFL final against the Green Bay Packers . The Eagles won the final 17:13. After the 1962 season, Gossage moved to the CFL for the Hamilton Tiger-Cats. The team from Hamilton moved into the Gray Cup this year and won the final against the British Columbia Lions with 21:10. Gossage moved into the Gray Cup with his team in 1964. This time, however, the British Columbia Lions prevailed with 34:24. After the 1964 season, Gossage ended his career.

After the career

Gene Gossage worked in the hardware industry after his career. He was married and had two children. The grave site of Gossage is unknown.
