Old Saybrook is a city in Middlesex County in the US state of Connecticut in the United States . 10,512 people live in the city (as of 2005) on an area of 56.0 km².
The most famous resident of Old Saybrook was the actress Katharine Hepburn , who lived all her life in Fenwick, a coastal district of Old Saybrook, and died there in 2003. In honor of the actress, the old town hall of Old Saybrook, which was originally opened in 1911, was converted into "The Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center". The building, known for short as "The Kate", has a theater stage with 250 seats and a small museum. "The Kate" opened in 2009.
