The Hamilton Tiger-Cats are a Canadian football team from Hamilton in the Canadian province of Ontario . They were founded in 1950 from a merger of the Hamilton Tigers and the Hamilton Flying Wildcats . The team plays in the Canadian Football League and there in the Eastern Division .

Club colors

The helmet design of the Hamilton Tiger-Cats consists of a black background with a jumping tiger , the club colors are accordingly black, gold and white. They played their home games from 1950 to 2012 at the Ivor Wynne Stadium , which had space for 29,600 spectators. The old stadium was replaced by a new building at the stadium location. As a temporary solution, they played their games in the 13,362-seat Alumni Stadium in Guelph in 2013 , until Tim Hortons Field was completed and opened in September 2014.

The Hamilton Tiger-Cats were a total of eighteen times winners of the Eastern Division Championship , the first time in the founding year, and then won the Gray Cup eight times , the first time in 1953. Sometimes this statistic also includes the victories of the previous teams.
