Stevens grew up in California and was discovered as a talented vocalist on Art Linkletter's television show House Party at the age of eight . She made her first recordings in 1954 as "Geri Pace" on the label "Gold Star Records". She had her only major success as a singer in 1959 with the title Pink Shoe Laces , which reached number 3 on the hit parade and for which she received a gold record . In 1959 and 1960, four more singles were able to make it onto the charts, but only in the lower quarter. Switching from the small independent label Chrysalette Records to Dot Records didn't help either. Her last hit in 1960 was Yes, I'm Lonesome Tonight , an answer song to Elvis Presley's Are You Lonesome Tonight , with which she reached number 60 in the 1961 hit parade. At the age of sixteen, her career as a child star ended. She later acted in various teenage films and became a studio singer.
