Christian Neander

Christian Neander (born February 17, 1968 ) is a German guitarist , producer and composer .

Until the separation of the band Selig in 1999, he worked for them as a guitarist and composer, and in the meantime also played in the Jazzkantine project . After the dissolution of Selig, Christian Neander was guitarist and composer for the band Kungfu . Since this band split up in 2003, he has been working as a producer and composer in his own music studio in Berlin-Kreuzberg.

As a composer he has worked for , among others, Echt , Heinz Rudolf Kunze , Niels Frevert , Andreas Kümmert and Cinema Bizarre . He is a producer for Niels Frevert, Pohlmann and Shine, among others . Since 2007 he has been playing in Ingo Pohlmann's live band .

In August 2008 Christian Neander's old band Selig reunited . Selig's album, recorded in autumn 2008, was released in March 2009.

Equipment

Christian mainly plays Stratocasters and Telecasters from Fender and a Stratocaster from Claim. Now and then he also uses instruments from Gibson , but more in the studio than live. On amplifiers he primarily uses old Vox AC30s modified by Manfred Reckmeyer , in the days of KungFu you could also hear Marshall tops like the TSL-100.

Many BOSS devices can be found on his pedalboard, including an SD-1 Super Overdrive , a BF-2 Flanger and a TU-2 Tuner. He also uses a Vox Wah-Wah , a ProCo Rat, an Ibanez Equalizer , a Line6 Delay Modeler and now and then an EHX Big Muff .

The combination Stratocaster - AC30 amplifier - Vox-Wah-Wah is very typical for his sound and has a high recognition value . This sound can also be heard in some pieces on the record Zwischen Heimweh und Fernsucht by the songwriter Pohlmann .

Sound

Christian Neander's sound is dominated by the distorted guitar sounds from Stratocaster guitars on his Vox amplifiers. His guitars are very useful for songs and at the same time often very virtuoso. His spectrum ranges from "pop" guitar to blues and funk to hard rock numbers with strong distortion.
