Andreas Kümmert (born July 20, 1986 in Lohr am Main ) is a German blues , soul and rock singer , guitarist and songwriter from Gemünden am Main in Lower Franconia . In December 2013 he won the third season of the German singing casting show The Voice of Germany .
biography
Andreas Kümmert's musical roots lie in the blues and rock 'n' roll of the 1960s and 1970s. He got to know this music through his father's record collection, who himself was musically active as a trumpeter . He learned drums at the age of nine and guitar at the age of 13 . As a drummer, he first played punk and rock music with various school bands . He later appeared more and more often as a singer. He achieved his first successes in youth competitions from 2003 to 2007 with grunge music. In his band at the time, Silent Cry , Kümmert was a singer, songwriter and guitarist, but then separated from her in order to continue as a soloist.
From 2007 he performed mainly in the area between Würzburg and Frankfurt am Main , but also toured Germany and abroad. He made more than 150 appearances per year. He also sold his own low-budget recordings at the events and on his homepage. He released his first professional CD in 2010: Smilin 'in Circles was an in-house production and contained six own songs and an instrumental intro. His second album The Mad Hatter's Neighbor with his own compositions was released in 2012 on the 7us music label . The Mad Hatter's Neighbor won an IMPALA Double Silver Award in 2015 for over 40,000 units sold.
In 2013, Kümmert took part in the third season of the singing casting show The Voice of Germany . On his first appearance in the "Blind Auditions" he caught the eye with his interpretation of Rocket Man by Elton John and became an early favorite of the show. In the first round of the live shows he sang If You Don't Know Me by Now , originally by Harold Melvin and the Blue Notes . He achieved the best voting result and his interpretation of the song made it into the German and Austrian music charts . The final song published after Kümmert's semi-final victory, his own composition Simple Man , immediately took number one on the iTunes charts and finally reached number three on the German single charts . Since the sales figures were included in the final rating, Kümmert went with a clear lead into the show finale on December 20, 2013. In this he also clearly prevailed in the audience vote against the other three candidates and thus won this season of The Voice of Germany .
At the beginning of 2014, Andreas Kümmert started a tour through Germany. On February 7, 2014, his last album The Mad Hatter's Neighbor was also re-released. On April 4, 2014 his album Here I Am was released , which was produced by Max Herre , his coach at The Voice of Germany , and Justin Stanley. It rose to number 3 in the German charts. Here I Am achieved gold status in 2016 for more than 100,000 sales.
On March 5, 2015, he took part in the show Our Song for Austria with the songs Home Is in My Hands and Heart of Stone , the German preliminary decision for the 2015 Eurovision Song Contest . With Heart of Stone he reached the final vote, in which 78.7 percent of viewers voted for him. However, he left the win to runner-up Ann Sophie , saying he felt in no condition to take the election. He later claimed to have had panic attacks and was receiving therapeutic treatment for an anxiety disorder . At the Echo 2015 he was nominated in the Newcomer National category.
Kümmert performs regularly with his band The Ron Lemons.
On September 23, 2016 he released the album Recovery Case .
In March 2020 the 8th studio album Harlekin Dreams was released , which Kümmert will release under his new, own record label Vomit Records after the end of the collaboration with Universal .
