Jamie-Lee Marie Kriewitz (born March 18, 1998 in Gehrden ) is a German pop singer . On December 17, 2015, she won the fifth season of the singing talent show The Voice of Germany . With her title Ghost she won the German preliminary decision for the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 and represented Germany in the final in Stockholm on May 14, 2016. There she finished last with 11 points. She is also known as the interpreter of "Wild und Frei", the theme song of the Super RTL series Spirit-Wild and Frei . Since the release of her first album, she has performed as Jamie-Lee .

Life

Jamie-Lee Kriewitz was born in Gehrden, but grew up in Bennigsen , a district of the Lower Saxon town of Springe . She attends the Eugen-Reintjes-Schule in Hameln as part of the “ Fachoberschule Gestaltung” course , in which she would like to obtain the technical college entrance qualification. Her father is a drummer , she joined the gospel choir Joyful Noise at the age of eleven and also took piano lessons. Kriewitz has an older brother.

What is striking about Kriewitz is her style of clothing, which is reminiscent of manga or anime , which actually belong to her interests. In every show of The Voice of Germany , she appeared in a different colorful clothing and headgear in Japanese Decora-Kei ( German  "decoration style" ). Since the end of 2016, she has increasingly appeared in other clothing styles. Musically and culturally, she is interested in K-Pop and South Korea . Kriewitz has been vegan since 2013 . She has been in a relationship with Fabian Riaz, also a musician, since October 2016. In early October 2018, Kriewitz announced their engagement. The couple has lived in Magdeburg since 2017.

Career

2015: The Voice of Germany

In 2015, at the age of 17, she took part in the fifth season of The Voice of Germany as a student . With her interpretation of the hit film The Hanging Tree , she convinced all four coaches in the blind auditions and joined the team of Michi Beck and Smudo . In the following rounds she was elected directly by her coaches, and in the semifinals she was one of the four candidates who won the public vote. In the finale, she performed with the English singer Jess Glynne and her own song Ghost . She won the show with 38% of the audience votes, with a lead of more than 15% over runner-up Ayke Witt , and was the first and to date only winner who was not yet of legal age when she was successful .

The show song Ghost had already been released the week before the final and reached number 59 in the German charts as the most successful song of the four finalists. A week after winning the final, it rose to number 11 in the German single charts .

2016: Eurovision Song Contest

On February 25, 2016, Kriewitz took part in the German preliminary decision Our song for Stockholm . With her song Ghost - produced by DJ Thomilla - she won the show with 44.5% of the votes and thus qualified to represent Germany at the Eurovision Song Contest in Stockholm on May 14, 2016 . After her victory, the song was again represented in the German single charts. She performed on April 7 at the 2016 Echoverleihung and on April 9 at Schlag den Star . The song Berlin was released on April 8, 2016 . It is the second song of their debut album, also called Berlin , and was released on April 29, 2016. The album placed in the top 20 of the German album charts . At the beginning of May she was a guest at DoKomi, accompanied by citizen Lars Dietrich . With Ghost , Jamie-Lee scored only 1 point in the jury voting and 10 points in the televoting in the final of the Eurovision Song Contest 2016 in Stockholm and ended up in last place with 11 points.

On June 25, 2016, Jamie-Lee Kriewitz was a member of the jury at the KWF Audition in Berlin, Germany's preliminary decision for the representative at the K-Pop World Festival 2016. At the Napster Fan Prize 2016, she won as “Best Individual Artist”. In the summer of 2016 she performed at the Halberg Open Air in Saarbrücken, at the Maschseefest in Hanover and at the MDR Harz Open Air in Wernigerode . The tour for her album was planned for October 2016, but was postponed to April 2017 for school reasons. During a trip to Seoul , South Korea , she recorded the music video for her third single Wild One , which was released on September 29, 2016, but was not in the charts. In September she modeled for the photo exhibition Alive by her designer Franz-Josef Baur. The photos were published in January 2017. Kriewitz re-recorded the wolf song from Astrid Lindgren's novel Ronja the robber's daughter for the album Projekt Giraffenaffen 5 in aid of Die Arche - Christian Children's and Young People's Work . Further appearances in Germany and other countries followed.

Since 2017

At the beginning of 2017 she shot the opening song for the second song contest Dein Song für eine Welt, alongside Fargo now even more in Portugal , and has been the godmother of this school competition ever since. Also in January 2017, she worked in the commercial for Nom Noms, a cosmetic product for children, which was published in March 2017. In February she was a juror at the Jewrovision Song Contest . At the 2017 Echoverleihung her debut album Berlin was nominated in the category “Artist Pop National”, but the award went to Ina Müller .

After she had been on the Toggo Tour of the broadcaster Super RTL since June 2017, she later sang Wild und Frei, the title song of the Spirit-Wild and Frei series , which has been broadcast on Super RTL since September 9, 2017. Kriewitz's interpretation achieved more than 11 million views on YouTube than the English original. She also re-recorded the Christmas carol Coming home for Christmas by Banaroo for Super RTL , the version was released on December 6, 2017. That same year she was a guest on the fourth season of Disney Magic Moments , which aired on the Disney Channel in November and December 2017 .

Kriewitz also accompanied the Toggo Tour in summer 2018. Together with Fabian Riaz she had an appearance in the music video for the song Kiss Me by Rea Garvey , which was released in September 2018. Also in 2018 she was part of the eighth season podcast of the Voice of Germany , in which Riaz also participated as a candidate. On April 15, 2019, Kriewitz was the supporting act of the K-Pop group MONT on their first appearance in Germany.

Most recently, Kriewitz has worked with producer Tobias Röger. On November 1st, 2019 their new single Flying was released, which after one month exceeded 700,000. Had calls on spotify. This is both Kriewitz's first German song of her own and her first song that she wrote herself. On February 7th, 2020 the single was released, Even if it's a lie, and on April 17th, the single Heartbeat Distance was released.
