The Voice Senior is a German music - talent show for candidates aged 60 and over, based on the concept of the show The Voice is based.

The first season was broadcast on Sat.1 from December 23, 2018 to January 4, 2019 . The moderators and jury members were already known from the main show, the presentation was done by Thore Schölermann and Lena Gercke .

concept

On December 17, 2017, Sat.1 announced that it would produce a special format for singers over 60, entitled The Voice Senior, by Talpa . The course of the show is based, like the show The Voice of Germany, on the concept of the original The Voice , but only four episodes are planned.

Blind auditions

In the first phase, the “blind auditions”, the participants sing individually in front of the jury and the live audience. Since the jury members sit with their backs to the stage, they can only hear and not see the artists. By pressing the red button (“buzzing”) the chair turns towards the stage, so the individual jurors express their willingness to want to include the singer in their team. If the candidate receives more than one jury vote, he or she will decide which coach to continue to support.

Sing offs

At The Voice Senior, all candidates who were successful in the auditions sing a personal song. The coach nominates two candidates from their team for the final.

final

In the last phase, the final, the last two candidates first compete against each other within their team. The respective coach then decides which talent will make it to the final voting round. In the last round, each team winner sings a song again, this time the television viewers use televoting to determine who will be the The Voice Senior winner.
