Claudia Emmanuela Santoso

Claudia Emmanuela Santoso (born October 27, 2000 ) is a singer from Cirebon , Indonesia and winner of the ninth season of the talent show The Voice of Germany in 2019.

life and career

Santoso attended music school from the age of 4. Since 2008 she has participated in various singing competitions for children in Indonesia, including Junior Indosiar Fantasy Academy , switched to AFI Junior and Little Idol in 2011 and to Mamamia in 2014 . She was encouraged by her uncle in her decision to study in Germany. She attended courses at the Indonesian Goethe-Institut in Bandung and completed intensive German courses at a language school in Munich during the school holidays . After graduating from high school , Santoso left her family to study musicology at the University of Munich .

Santoso presented himself in Munich in February 2019 for participation in the 9th season of The Voice of Germany , reached the next stage in Berlin and finally made it into the blind auditions. Here she sang the song Never Enough from the soundtrack of the film The Greatest Showman . Santoso's performance impressed the jury and received a lot of attention on social media. The video of her appearance in the blind auditions became one of the most watched videos from The Voice of Germany up to that point .

In the finale, Santoso sang the three songs Castles by Freya Ridings , I Have Nothing by Whitney Houston and as a separate song Goodbye in a duet with her coach Alice Merton . Santoso won the competition with 46.39% of the audience votes. Since the song Goodbye was released on November 10, 2019, the single has made it onto the iTunes charts in Indonesia and several European countries.
