A Great Big World is an American pop duo .
Band history
Ian Axel and Chad Vaccarino met in New York at university. They performed as a duo with songs they wrote themselves. The first thing that caught her eye was her songs, which were used in television series such as One Tree Hill or as music on news programs such as Good Morning America . On the Glee series , their song This Is the New Year was sung by the cast, which eventually led to Epic Records signing the two musicians.
Another song, Say Something , was used in the dance show So You Think You Can Dance , where Christina Aguilera heard it. With their support, A Great Big World recorded the song as a single and released it in late 2013. After the song was performed on the talent show The Voice , where Aguilera was one of the four coaches, the song reached number one on the US download charts. It then rose to number four in the official single charts and quickly reached platinum status. In Germany the title reached number 58 after it was sung in an episode of the casting show Deutschland sucht den Superstar . The song won a Grammy Award in the pop category.
The debut album Is There Anybody Out There? appeared in mid-January 2014.
A Great Big World appeared as the opening act at the concerts of Lindsey Stirling on in Germany, Poland and Luxembourg on their tour, 2014.
