Lindsey Stirling
Lindsey Stirling (born September 21, 1986 in Santa Ana , Orange County , California ) is an American violinist , stage artist and composer . She presents choreographed violin performances both live and in music videos.
Private life
Stirling grew up with two sisters in Gilbert , Arizona . She studied therapeutic relaxation at Brigham Young University in Provo , Utah . A member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints , a Mormon denominational group , she did a volunteer missionary service in New York . Since December 2012 she lives in Arizona again. In 2015, Stirling graduated from the Marriott School of Brigham Young University (BYU).
Musical career
She got her first violin lessons at the age of six. The urge to learn this instrument came from Stirling herself, her parents initially denied her the request because of the costs involved. At the age of 16 she became part of the rock band Stomp On Melvin , to which her four best friends belonged and with whom she made her first experiments in the direction of rock 'n' roll . Also at the age of 16 she began composing her own pieces of music, which she calls "violin rock songs".
In 2007 she opened her YouTube channel Lindsey Stirling , on which she published many of her music videos. Since then, the channel has had over 2.7 billion video views (as of November 11, 2019) and over 12 million subscribers. In 2010, Stirling was a quarter-finalist on the fifth season of America's Got Talent , which made her famous as a hip-hop violinist .
Stirling has participated in numerous national competitions and is known for its musical versatility, which ranges from country to hip-hop . She played in Las Vegas clubs, NBA halftime shows, and other venues across the United States. She also appeared as a support act or together with artists such as Sean Kingston , Donny Osmond , Alan Jackson , Samuel Ameglio , Shaun Barrowes , Benton Paul and with the interpreters The Piano Guys and Tiffany Alvord , who have also become known through YouTube . In 2013 she started her first world tour and presented her violin art with dubstep, among other things . From January 14th to 24th, 2013 she gave concerts in Germany, all of which were sold out. In 2014, Stirling received an award for the first time, the Echo in the crossover category (national or international) . In 2015 she started her world tour "The Music Box".
In 2016, after working on her new album Brave Enough, she began another summer tour through the USA and was also represented at individual festivals in Germany.
Another tour through Europe took place in spring 2017, including a. on March 9th in Berlin. The concert in the Max-Schmeling-Halle was sold out.
In the series The Outpost , which started in 2018, Lindsey Stirling plays a recurring supporting role for the first time in season 1 from episode 6 as a singing and music- making vagabond or vagabond named Pock , who robs others. In 2016 Stirling was a participating violinist in the Walt Disney film Elliot, the Dragon .

Autobiography
On June 21, 2015, Stirling announced that she had been working on her autobiography "The Only Pirate At The Party" with her sister and co-author Brooke S. Passey for the past two and a half years. She published it on January 12, 2016 in Gallery Books Verlag. On January 30 of the same year, the New York Times ranked the book 10th among the best-selling non-fictional books.
