Billboard Music Awards
The Billboard Music Awards are annually given by the trade magazine Billboard that recognize the most successful musicians of the year. The most important selection criteria are hit parade placements, the number of records sold and the radio presence of an artist. In addition to the American Music Awards , the Grammy Awards and the inclusion in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame , the Billboard Music Awards are among the most important awards for contemporary music in the USA.
The Billboard Music Awards were first presented in 1990. The award ceremony took place in December in Las Vegas from 1990 to 2006 . An outstanding album, single and musician from different genres were honored. The award ceremony was televised nationwide. The artist of the year has continued to receive awards since 2007, but no further awards have been made and no television show has taken place.
