Elle King (* 3. July 1989 in Los Angeles , California as Tanner Elle Schneider ) is an American singer , songwriter and actress . She describes her style of music as a mixture of country , soul , rock and blues . Elle King likes variability and never wanted to serve just one genre.
biography
Elle King is the daughter of comedian Rob Schneider and the former model London King. She grew up in Ohio . As she aged nine years music of punk rock - girl band The Donnas heard she decided to become a singer. She started playing guitar when she was 13 . The banjo was added later. At the age of 16, King trampled through New York and the surrounding area as a street musician , but then moved to Philadelphia to attend the local art school for painting and film. After her apprenticeship, she spent some time in Copenhagen and Los Angeles, but then returned to New York, settled in Brooklyn and worked, among other things, in a tattoo shop on the Lower East Side .
In 2010 King starred in the documentary Legends of La La . In March 2012 their first single Good to Be a Man was released on the independent label Fat Possum Records . She then got a contract with RCA Records and released The Elle King EP with four tracks in June of that year , including the song of her first single, Good to Be a Man . That year, King made television appearances on Big Morning Buzz Live and the Late Show with David Letterman .
In September 2014, the single Ex's & Oh’s hit the stores as the harbinger of the February 2015 debut album Love Stuff . After the album was placed in the US album charts in March 2015 and moved up to the top 30, in July 2015, 10 months after its release, the single also entered the US charts and reached number 10. Further releases of 2015 are the digital singles Catch Us If You Can in April and American Girl in May. Both songs can be heard in the action comedy Miss Bodyguard - In High Heels on the Run . American Girl is a cover version of the 1977 hit written by Tom Petty and released with his band The Heartbreakers .
Also in 2015, King appeared on various television shows including The Tonight Show , The Late Late Show with James Corden , Live with Regis and Kathie Lee , Jimmy Kimmel Live! , The Talk and Late Night with Seth Meyers . She had her first TV appearances in Germany in November of that year on the show Inas Nacht and in December at the finale of the fifth season of The Voice of Germany , where she sang Ex's & Oh’s with all the candidates. Immediately thereafter, the single and a week later the album entered the German charts.
