Miss bodyguard - in high heels on the run (Original title: Hot Pursuit , English for "heated chase.") Is an American action - comedy by Anne Fletcher from the year 2015. In the film stars Reese Witherspoon and Sofia Vergara . The cinema release in Germany was on June 11, 2015.

As the daughter of a police officer, Rose Cooper always wanted to join the police force. There she is now stuck in the office after a misunderstanding had set the alcohol-soaked clothes of a harmless disturbance on fire with her stun gun. This has earned her a lot of scorn and ridicule in police circles, although her height of just over 150 cm does not exactly contribute to her authority. Things don't go very well in love life either, as most of their dates are put off by their sense of humor (which can include jokingly showing off their service weapon in a restaurant).

In view of the boring office work, the otherwise very meticulous and orderly fixated officer is delighted when she is assigned to transfer an important witness. The diva-like and very sexy Danielle Riva is supposed to testify in Dallas against the Colombian cartel boss Vincente Cortez. When Riva is picked up by Cooper, Riva's husband dies in a robbery attack by the cartel members, so she remains the only witness.

On their subsequent escape through Texas, hardly anything goes according to plan. They are not only hunted by the men of the cartel, but soon also by the police. It is also difficult that the two women are fundamentally different and constant differences of opinion arise.

The film received mostly negative reviews. At Rotten Tomatoes , only 8% of reviews are positive, out of a total of 146 reviews; the average rating is 3.1 / 10. The critical consensus says: "Shrill and uncomfortable, Miss Bodyguard screwed up the chance to exhaust the lovable chemistry between Reese Witherspoon and Sofía Vergara as a bizarre couple."

The film service described the film as a "[h] armless, inexperienced chaos comedy in which the protagonist never missed an opportunity" to "score with her inability". Since the punch lines are mostly based on “foolishness and prejudice”, “plot and main character would turn out to be joke numbers”, so that “there is hardly any sympathy for the female duo”.

Awards

The film received four nominations at the Teen Choice Awards 2015 , including Best Screen Couple ("Choice Movie: Chemistry") and Best Comedy Actress (Reese Witherspoon, "Choice Movie Actress: Comedy").
