Paul Shaffer was the head of the band in the studio at the time. He joined CBS with David Letterman.

Late Night with Conan O'Brien

Conan O'Brien took over the show from David Letterman in 1993. He hosted it until 2009. After that, he took over the Tonight Show from Jay Leno . He moderated this show for only one year. He has been a moderator on TBS since 2011. The show was recorded at 30 Rock Studios. The band leader was Max Weinberg .

Jimmy Fallon

Jimmy Fallon took over the show from Conan O'Brien in 2009. He hosted it until February 2014, when he took over Jay Leno's Tonight Show . The show was also recorded at 30 Rock Studios in New York. The show band was The Roots .

Seth Meyers

Seth Meyers has been moderating the show since February 24, 2014 . The band leader of the “8G Band” is Fred Armisen , with whom Meyers had previously worked on Saturday Night Live . The show became significantly more political with Meyers, especially since the presidency of Donald Trump . From August 2015, he will hold his opening monologue sitting at his desk, similar to a news anchor that Meyers embodied on Saturday Night Live Weekend Update . One of the hallmarks of his show is the recurring A Closer Look section. He makes a satirical commentary on a current political topic in a longer section of around 10 minutes. The similar section A Check In deals similarly with topics outside of the current news story. The sections are also regularly published as videos on YouTube .
