Donny Osmond
Donald Clark "Donny" Osmond (* 9. December 1957 in Ogden , Utah ) is an American singer , talk show - moderator , music producer , songwriter and actor .
biography
Donny Osmond is the seventh of nine children born to George and Olive Osmond. The family is active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (Mormons). He first appeared on the Andy Williams Show at the age of five . Again and again he performed together with his brothers under the name The Osmonds .
In 1972 he experienced a personal breakthrough with his solo hit Puppy Love , written by Paul Anka . From 1976 to 1979 he and his sister Marie Osmond appeared on The Donny & Marie Show . Their first hit together was I'm Leaving It (All) Up to You in 1974.
Osmond has been married to Debra Glenn since 1978 and has five sons with her. His first film was Goin 'Coconuts (1978), a crime comedy in which he played himself. He played the leading role in the musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat from 1992 to 1998. It was produced as a film with him in 1999. He lent Captain Shang the singing voice for the Disney film Mulan . For the film A Land Before Our Time IX he composed and sang the theme song No One Has to Be Alone .
Osmond hosted the quiz show Pyramid from 2002 until the program was discontinued in 2004 . With the song Breeze on By from his 54th album, he reached the top 10 in Great Britain in 2004 and topped the smooth jazz charts.
On July 22, 2005, Osmond performed as an active member of Latter-day Saints in the celebration of President Gordon B. Hinckley's 95th birthday with his hymns This Is the Moment and One Dream . He also appears in the background in the video White and Nerdy by Weird Al Yankovic and has a short guest appearance on the sitcom King of Queens (King of Queens S01E10 - Turkey à la Mama and S02E17 - Doug meets Carrie) and Parker Lewis - Der Coole von der School (S01E23 - Long Live the King). In 2008 he starred in the film College Road Trip.
From January to February 2019, Osmond took part as Peacock in the first season of the US version of The Masked Singer and reached the second place. In the UK edition , he was a guest judge on the fifth episode of the first season.
