Sir Timothy Miles Bindon "Tim" Rice (born November 10, 1944 in Amersham , Buckinghamshire , England ) is a British musical and film music writer .

Musical career

Tim Rice began his career as an agent for the music company EMI . When his mentor Norrie Paramor left the company, Rice followed him and soon met Andrew Lloyd Webber .

The two got together - Webber wrote the music, Rice wrote the lyrics - and wrote the musicals Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat (1968), Jesus Christ Superstar (1970) and Evita (1976) , among others . He wrote the lyrics for the musical music Chess by the ABBA composers.
