Timothy James Rice-Oxley (born June 2, 1976 ) is an English musician , producer and singer . He is known as a founding member, keyboardist , singer and songwriter of the English band Keane . Likewise, in 2010 Rice-Oxley began a side project called Mt Desolation with Jesse Quin, another member of Keane .

The song Tear Up This Town, written by Tim Rice-Oxley and recorded with Keane, can be heard in the film Seven Minutes After Midnight by JA Bayona and in its credits .

life and career

Tim Rice-Oxley was born in Oxford to Charles Patrick and Margaret Rice-Oxley. He has a younger brother named Tom, who was born in 1979.

Furthermore, Rice-Oxley took piano lessons in his youth , which he did not enjoy and for which he never practiced, since he was supposed to always play classical pieces that bored him . After dropping out of class, however, Tim Rice-Oxley began to enjoy playing the piano - particularly because of the English band The Beatles - so he eventually taught himself to do it.

Private life

Tim Rice-Oxley lives in Polegate, East Sussex .

He has two daughters. From 2005 to 2012 he was married to Janye; the marriage was divorced because of his business travel .

Awards

Rice-Oxley won an Ivor Novello Award for Songwriter of the Year 2005.
