Juan Antonio Bayona
Juan Antonio García Bayona (born May 9, 1975 in Barcelona ) is a Spanish director .
Life
Following advertising and music videos and short films such as Mis Vacaciones (1999) and El Hombre Esponja (2002), Bayona made his first feature film The Orphanage (El orfanato) in 2006 , produced by his friend and sponsor Guillermo del Toro . The film was nominated for an Oscar for best foreign language film in 2007. In 2010 he shot the film The Impossible with Naomi Watts and Ewan McGregor in the leading roles in Spain and Thailand , which is about the 2004 tsunami disaster and for which he won the Goya for Best Director in 2013. As his biggest project so far, Bayona staged the blockbuster Jurassic World: The Fallen Kingdom in 2018 . In addition, he will work as an executive producer for Amazon's The Lord of the Rings series, which is planned for 2021 , and will also direct the first two episodes.
