Marie Osmond
Olive Marie Osmond (born October 13, 1959 in Ogden , Utah ) is an American country singer and actress .
Music career
Marie's brothers had worldwide success as Osmonds in pop music in the 1970s . Marie Osmond, who preferred country music, recorded the song Paper Roses in 1973 at the age of 14 and immediately achieved a number 1 hit in the relevant genre charts. More singles followed, but they were less successful. During these years she worked a lot with her brother Donny .
It took until 1984 before she was able to reach number one on the country charts again in a duet with Dan Seals with the song Meet Me In Montana . She was able to repeat this success a year later with her solo recording There's No Stopping Your Heart . Her next singles were also able to place high in the charts. Her last recording was released in 1990.
In addition to her musical activities, Marie Osmond was also successful in other areas. She worked as a fashion designer, wrote how-to guides, and appeared in films a few times. She also supported charitable causes through the Osmond Foundation .
Television career
Together with her brother Donny, she appeared in their own program on American television from 1976 to 1979 and the two were among the youngest presenters of all time thanks to the "Donny & Marie Show".
In the 1990s she was seen for a short time at the side of the later presenter Craig Ferguson and Golden-Girl Betty White in the television series "Maybe Next Time" as White's daughter and business partner. However, the series could not prevail and was withdrawn from the program after a few episodes.
As a candidate for Dancing with the Stars , the American version of Let's Dance , she hit the headlines due to a fainting fit during the show.
family
Her 18-year-old son died of suicide in 2010.
